The people of Wisconsin want problems solved that have been put off for years and elected Gov. Tony Evers to do so. The peoples' budget attacks critical challenges of all Americans: anti-democracy, inequality and climate change.

Automatic voter registration for every Wisconsin citizen who reaches the age of 18, nonpartisan voting redistricting, and easier voter ID regulations advance representative democracy.

Inequality is lessened by increasing minimum wage and the right of unions to charge workers for services. Fairer income taxes cut welfare to millionaires, gives working families a 10 percent tax cut, and increases the Earned Income Tax Credit. Enlarging Medicaid improves lives of 82,000 Badgers. Improved Pre-K-12 school and university funding increases success for children and adults.

Evers helps preserve a livable planet by requiring electricity be carbon free by 2050, cutting building energy use, and encouraging electric automobiles. An Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy, bringing science back to the Department of Natural Resources, and solving water problems will improve the lives of many Badgers.

Evers' budget begins solving these massive, complex problems as the people of Wisconsin have demanded. We all need to speak to our state legislators and tell them to pass this plan to improve Wisconsinites' lives.
