Scott Frostman’s reprehensible take in his May 9 column about the Reedsburg School District offering free breakfasts is further evidence of what is wrong with our world. So much so, it brings up the iconic line from A Christmas Carol: "And the union workhouses?" demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"

Amazing how those that have plenty are suddenly so worried about government intrusion when it comes to taking care of those less fortunate. As Frostman points out, summer programs for kids cost an awful lot of taxpayer money. Yet I wonder how many of those free breakfasts would fit into just one taxpayer-funded incentive to, say a multibillion-dollar company run by a foreign government in the name of “jobs?"
