In 1943, when I became 18, I joined the Army. After infantry basic I was sent to a ranger regiment in Burma.
We spent a year there fighting the Japanese in the jungles and mountains. After the war I suffered from recurrent malaria for nine years. I do not regret my combat experiences because we fought to save our democracy.
In less than two years in office, President Donald Trump has become a dictator who committed several impeachable acts. He ignores the Constitution. He violates the division of powers between Congress and the presidency.
He ignores advice from his officials. He is ignorant, incompetent, subject to violent mood swings, and has a short attention span. He becomes angry with anyone who disagrees with him. He attacks opponents with insulting comments and lies on Twitter.
If he is not removed by impeachment before 2020 we must either prevent him from being nominated or defeat him at the polls. At age 94, I cannot march or protest but I am determined to live long enough to vote him out of office in 2020.
