Tough Blade Award winners

Beaver Dam Swan City Ice Skaters recognized several individual skaters during the group's annual banquet held May 5.

Athena Wenger was named this year’s Alysa Sadowski Sportsmanship Award winner for a positive attitude and outstanding sportsmanship. Wenger was also recognized as a United States Figure Skating triple gold medalist.

Anna Swenson was recognized as this year’s Mary Conway Sportsmanship Award winner for good sportsmanship, leadership and for being a positive role model. Swenson also received a platinum award from USFS.

Azalea Helmer was awarded the Skater Service award in recognition of her volunteer time with the Swans and Beaver Dam Family Center events and for the time she spends helping the younger skaters.

Cassandra Hiemstra was this year’s Tough Blade award winner for a solo skater that shows determination and perseverance on the ice. She was given the club’s traveling trophy to keep for a year. Last year’s winner, Azalea Helmer, was also recognized and given a permanent trophy.

Tim Eilbes was awarded the Adult Service Award and his wife, Tammy Eilbes, was named this year’s President’s Award winner.

Members of the SwanSyncSation synchronized skating teams given awards by coaches were: Katie Puetz, Silent Swan Award; Olivia Neu and Lia Morris, Most Improved Sync Skater Awards; Stella Knaup, Little Engine That Could Award; Clairees Stephens, Perseverance Award; Emma Le Duc, MVP Award; Annabell Eilbes, Sidekick Award; Heather Schweitzer, Team Impact Award.
