The Beaver Dam Swan City Ice Skaters will attract an estimated 1,000-1,500 people to the city of Beaver Dam for the 24th annual Swan Synchro Skate competition Feb. 16 at the Beaver Dam Family Center, 609 Gould St., Beaver Dam. The first team will take the ice around 9 a.m. and the day ends around 6 p.m.
The event has 41 teams registered to compete with about 525 skaters from kindergarten to college age.
Synchronized skating is a team sport that combines ice skating and dance elements and requires precision and trust. Teams of up to 20 athletes perform musical programs that include forming shapes on the ice and executing complex individual skating moves inches away from each other.
The event is open to the public; admission is $10 for ages 5 and older; free for active duty military with ID.
