It is time to get out your gold and green and start shouting “Go Beavers!”

Beaver Dam High School is celebrating Homecoming this week, with the Golden Beavers prep football team facing off against another set of Beavers for this year’s Homecoming game.

Beaver Dam will play Badger North Conference rival Reedsburg on Friday at 7 p.m. at the high school.

The game is only one part of the weeklong Homecoming celebration, which includes fun not only for the students but the community as well, said high school athletic director Melissa Gehring.

“The best thing about Homecoming in Beaver Dam is the entire community gets involved,” Gehring said.

The fun will begin today with dress-up themes throughout the week. Monday students will have pajama day, Tuesday is America day, Wednesday is vacation day and Thursday is tourist day. Of course, gold and green are the colors to wear Friday.

The powder puff game will be held Wednesday night, but the events that will bring out the largest crowds will not be held until Friday.

The school’s pep rally will be held Friday with a parade to follow. The parade is scheduled to leave the high school area at 3:45 p.m., and officially begins at 4 p.m. The parade will go south on North Lincoln Avenue, turning west onto Park Avenue and continuing across North Spring Street onto Front Street and then turning north onto North Center Street. The parade will end on North Center Street just before West Maple Avenue.

On Saturday night, the students will have a Homecoming dance with a Paris theme.
