A motorcycle crash claimed the life of a man in the town of Lebanon Wednesday.
At 1:48 p.m., the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle off the road with a rider lying nearby who appeared deceased. The crash occurred about 4 miles northeast of Watertown, on County Highway R near County Highway MM. Upon arrival, responders found a male deceased near a motorcycle.
The crash is under investigation, but evidence indicated the cyclist had been northbound on County Highway R, failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, entered the east ditch, and was ejected. Both the motorcycle and man came to rest in a cattail marshy area.
Assisting at the crash scene were Lebanon Fire and EMS, Watertown Fire Department paramedics, Wisconsin State Patrol, Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office and the sheriff’s office chaplain.
The identity of the deceased will be released following positive identification and relative notification.
It was the seventh traffic fatality in Dodge County this year.
