MAYVILLE | The Mayville High School Concert Choir will host a free Christmas concert Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the historic Audubon Inn.
The award-winning 70-voice ensemble will perform a holiday program under the direction of Todd Kruger. Kruger said, “This is the first time we’ve planned an event like this and we’re excited to be able to perform for our community.”
The concert will celebrate the arrival of the Christmas season as well as the completion of the Audubon Inn’s holiday décor by New York design team Richard Kollath and Edward McCann. The pair have decorated several other National Historic Register sites including the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, Calif., and the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Kollath said, “The Audubon Inn is a classically beautiful structure. Inside and out, the architecture of the Audubon Inn speaks to a more graceful era, and we’re decorating for the holiday in a way we think might reflect the hotel’s early years, with an abundance of simple mixed greens.”
Owners of the Audubon Inn, Keith and Amanda Hill, moved to Mayville with their young sons early this year to take over operations at the inn. The couple spent more than a decade managing luxury properties around the country. Hill said, “Amanda and I are happy we’ve returned to our Midwestern roots and thankful to be ringing in the season with our new neighbors.”
