Norbert “Shorty” A. LaTendresse, 78, Horicon, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in the comfort of his home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish, Horicon, with the Rev. Mike Petri as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at St. Malachy Catholic Cemetery in Horicon.
Norbert was born Dec. 25, 1938, to Anatole and Blanche LaTendresse in Chassell, Michigan. He was the second of four children born to the couple. On June 24, 1967, he was united in marriage to Alice Arnold, a love that would last a lifetime.
Shorty was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Horicon. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a young man. He then started working at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa. He later transferred to John Deere Horicon Works.
Norbert loved the outdoors — fishing, hunting, trapping and any other reason to get to the woods and waters. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports and spending time with his friends and family.
Shorty is survived by his sons Thomas LaTendresse of Horicon, and Jason LaTendresse of Horicon; his brother Eugene LaTendresse of Willow, Alaska; his sister Sherry Ann LaTendresse of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alice, in 2015; and his brother David LaTendresse.
