Betty Wright

Betty A. Wright, 84, Fall River, died on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, with her family by her side at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1932, in Lowell to John and Theodora (Dantuma) Drost. Betty graduated from Fall River High School and the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Madison. She worked as a nurse in health care for 40 years before retirement. Betty was married to David C. Wright on Aug. 29, 1953. She was a faithful and active member of the Fall River United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer, member of the Sarah Circle and many other committees and church activities including numerous bake sales. Betty was community minded and volunteered over the years on many, many worthy projects including decades of Veterans Day commemoration plans every year, Popcorn Wagon fundraising and the Fall River Cemetery Association. When not serving others, Betty enjoyed puzzles and activities sponsored by the Badger Antique Car Club where she was a longtime member.

Survivors include her son, Steven of Janesville; two daughters, Susan (Scott) Mallon of Columbus and Sandra (Randy) Doblar of East Troy; six grandchildren Zach Mallon, Avery Mallon, Charles Wright, Austin “AJ” (fiancee Brooke) Wright, Samuel Sobon and Sydney Sobon; five stepgrandchildren; two great-granddaughters; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2010; granddaughter Ashley Mallon; grandson Jack Sobon;

sister Jeannette Hayward; and two infant sisters, Cornelia and Adeline.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at the Fall River United Methodist Church, Fall River. The Rev. Kimberly Brumm will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fall River Cemetery, Fall River. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jensen Funeral Home in Columbus and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fall River United Methodist Church or the Savanna Oaks Cultural Center.
