Edward John Buss, 91, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Hillside Manor after a short illness.
A memorial gathering for Edward will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from noon until 1 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Seth Dorn officiating. Inurnment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in the town of Trenton. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
Edward was born on June 28, 1927, the son of Paul and Selma (Luedtke) Buss in the town of Oak Grove. On May 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Dolores Miller in Neosho.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving as a tank commander. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. Ed had worked as a bricklayer for many years and was a 40-year member of the International Union of Bricklayers Local 21.
Ed was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was an ardent lifetime member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146, serving as past post commander, along with serving on the graveside Military Honor Squad for many years. Ed enjoyed boating, gardening and fishing, especially annual Canada fishing trips with his sons-in-law. He and Dolores enjoyed traveling to their winter home in Arizona for many years, spending many special times with their friends there.
Ed is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores; his daughters, Dawn (Brian) Buss-Glodowski of Bergland, Michigan, and Andrea (Rick) Oppermann of Stevens Point; his brothers, Albert (Carolyn) Buss of Beaver Dam and Raymond Buss of Juneau, and his sister-in-law Rose Marie Buss of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Eldora Zietlow and Marcella Huberty, his brother Victor Buss and his sister-in-law Darlene (Raymond) Buss.
