Frederick (Fritz) A. Strassburg, 90, Watertown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc following a courageous battle with cancer.

Frederick August Strassburg was born in Beaver Dam on Oct. 25, 1928, to Walter and Minnie (Winning) Strassburg. He was confirmed Aug. 30, 1942, at First Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam by the Rev. A. Wittmann. On June 18, 1947, he married Jeanadell Beletzky in Beaver Dam. She preceded him death on Sept. 25, 1980. He was married to Delores (Degner) Behl on April 9, 1983, by the Rev. A. Wittmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon.

Fred farmed in the Reeseville area prior to working primarily as a mechanic for Pillsbury Green Giant. After 28 years there, he retired in 1987 and worked for Behl Turkey Farm, retiring again in 2013. He was very energetic and hardworking. He loved to fix things.

He was a founding member of Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. For the last 35 years, he was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon where he was very involved in church activities. He enjoyed the Immanuel men’s breakfast group, traveling, golfing, dancing, hunting, snowmobiling, puzzles and playing cards, especially sheepshead and euchre. He looked forward to driving tractor and coffee time at Hardee’s. “Grandpa Fritz” loved spending quality time with his family and attending their events and activities.

Fred helped save many lives by donating more than 25 gallons of blood as a Red Cross blood donor. He was a dedicated member of the Lebanon Lions for the past 32 years. He golfed many years in the Men’s Senior League at Rock River Hills in Horicon.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Behl-Strassburg of Watertown; one son, Raymond (Debbie) of Princeton and their family: daughter Kim (John) Liddicoat and children Christina and Kaitlyn; son, Gary (Tara) Strassburg and children Brandon (Anissa), Breanna (fiance Jesse), Patience, and Kyler; one daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Abel of Beaver Dam and her daughter Deanna Scott and children Brandy, Marquel, and Zayden.

Four stepsons survive: stepson, Allen (Debbie) Behl of Lebanon and their family: son John (Michelle) Behl and children Adriana and Abigail; son, Joel (Sara) Behl; stepson, Steve (Leticia) Behl of El Paso, Texas, and their family: son Andy Behl, daughter Mindy (Erik) Einwalter and their son Grady, son Jared (Lesan Gouge) Behl, son Brandon (Katiuci) Behl, daughter Barbie (Jose) Rosado and children, Liliana, Jose, and Abigail, and son Jonathon Sotero; stepson, David (Dianne) Behl of Lebanon and their family: son Brian (Kayla) Behl, son Chad (Karen) Behl, daughter Michelle (Michael) Bongers and their son Justin; stepson, Dan (Chris) Behl of Lebanon and their family: son Mark (Lindsay) Behl and their son Graysen, daughter Megan (Warren) Baty, son Philip (Kristen) Behl and their daughter Eva, daughter Rachel (Alex) Wontor.

Fred is also survived by one brother, Warren (Alice) Strassburg of Hustisford, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jeanadell; son, Donald Strassburg; step grandson, Justin Behl; and brother, Elmer (Ramona) Strassburg.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon with the Rev. David Phillips officiating.

Relatives and friends may gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 4-7 p.m., and at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Beaver Dam.

Memorials would be appreciated to Immanuel Church of Lebanon.
