LOMIRA — A driver traveling north in the southbound lanes on Interstate 41 near Highway 28 struck a semi truck and died as a result of the crash on Thursday at 11:59 p.m., according to a press release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
The preliminary investigation shows a silver Ford pickup truck was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 41 when it struck a southbound Peterbilt semi that was in the right lane. The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The Peterbilt driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital. The name of the driver is being withheld at this time.
Southbound lanes for Interstate 41 were closed for approximately 5 hours, 20 minutes. Northbound lanes of Interstate 41 were closed for approximately 1 hour, 10 minutes while Flight for Life was on the ground.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
It is the first fatal crash in Dodge County in 2019.
