On Saturday, Earth Day will be celebrated in Beaver Dam. This is an annual event put on by Downtown Beaver Dam Inc.

Its purpose is to remind everyone that we should all respect the environment and do our part in taking care of our natural surroundings. The Earth Day program includes speakers at the Chamber of Commerce and at the library; a downtown trash pickup; a shredding service put on by Tyjeski Chiropractic, held by the Water Tower on S. Spring St.; Marsh Haven Creepy Critters; cookies at the chamber; and a planting of a memorial tree in memory of the Rev. Mark Molldrem.

In addition, Focus on Energy will be on hand to answer questions on home energy conservation, and to sell LED bulbs and other items at very reasonable prices.

In addition, the committee hopes to start a long-term effort to increase the number of trees in the city of Beaver Dam. More trees will improve home values, increase shade and improve the visual appeal of our city.

So, keep that date open and join us for Earth Day-Beaver Dam. If you have questions, please contact me at jsabfall@live.com or call 887-7953.
