From the National Sexual Violence Resource Center: One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old. Those numbers are staggering, to say the least. We can no longer say it is not happening or be silent to any type of violence.

With the recent incidents in our community, I want to take the time to discuss ways we can prevent violence. People Against A Violent Environment offers prevention education to our community to help groups of all ages understand violence, learn how to detect the warning signs, and acquire options for leaving a violent situation. I urge you to talk about violence with your children, schools, work, social groups, or religious organizations. What are they doing to help aid in ending violence within our community?

How can PAVE help? Request PAVE to present in our community, we can tailor it to meet any group’s needs. One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old. Let’s be the generation to stop violence because one is too many.
