Volunteers play important role in hospice care

April 7-13 is National Volunteer Week and Beaver Dam Community Hospitals Inc. would like to thank some very dedicated volunteers: our volunteers with BDCH and Hillside Hospice.

Volunteers make an incredible impact as they give their time and talents to improve our community. Volunteers benefit as well. “Volunteering at BDCH has enriched my life. My volunteer hours at the hospital are among the most enjoyable, important, and rewarding hours of my week,” said Pat Pawl, a nine-year volunteer. “I have witnessed a team of dedicated staff members working to fulfill the hospital’s mission of delivering excellent health care to our community.”

With acts of service, we can shape our community to accommodate the hopes of everyone. We cannot thank BDCH volunteers enough for this most important gift they share with our patients, visitors, residents, children and employees on a daily basis.

In hospice, the federal government recognizes this importance by requiring that Medicare-approved hospices utilize volunteers from their community.

Last year alone there were 289 volunteers with BDCH who served a total of 37,930 hours.

To become a volunteer, contact Dan Moritz, BDCH volunteer manager, at 920-887-5988 or dmoritz@bdch.org.
