The city of Columbus welcomes Officer Kyle Boschert, the newest member of the Columbus Police Department.

Boschert was sworn in on June 1 by City Clerk Megan Meyer in the City Hall Council Chambers. In attendance were Acting Chief of Police Dennis Weiner, Sargent Darrell Ward and Boschert’s parents.

The new officer finished his training May 18, and accepted the position with the Columbus Police Department shortly afterwards. Kyle was excited by the Columbus job opening, saying “they made the offer to just my academy. So the odds were very good.”

Boschert, originally from Beaver Dam, said he “wanted to work close to home, to be near friends and family” making Columbus an attractive location.

When asked why he wanted to work in policing, Boschert said “it was always a dream of mine growing up. I wanted to help people.”

The young officer is excited about the future. When asked about his career goals Boschert said he wanted to be with Columbus “for a long while.”
