National Public Works Week is an annual, national event to help celebrate the many different ways Public Works Departments contribute to our communities. Yes we do plow the snow in the winter months, but did you know we also mow grass for all of the city parks and buildings? The Public Works Department also does tree trimming and removal on street trees, planting trees, maintaining the parks and playgrounds, residential brush pickup, cleanup storm damage and fall leaf pickup. We also maintain storm sewers, patch potholes, adjust and maintain the Udey Dam, run the Recycling Center, maintain our vehicles, maintain city buildings, help with set up for community events, help with maintenance and operations of the pool, attend safety training meetings and educational classes, and are involved in the budgeting process for our department.

So next time you see one of our Public Works employees out doing their job in the community, please give them a wave, thumbs up, or a thank you for the many things they do for our fine city.
