Bank Mutual branches set to close in Beaver Dam, Portage

  • 0

Bank Mutual branches in Beaver Dam and Portage will close by this summer as part of a merger with a different bank.

Associated Bank's acquisition of Bank Mutual closed in January and the merger of the two banks will finish in late June or early July.

Closing is the branch in Beaver Dam at 130 W. Maple Ave. and the branch in Portage at 145 E. Cook St.

They will be closed because Associated Bank determined they were too close to existing Associated branches in the cities. Beaver Dam's Associated Bank branch is at 201 Park Ave. while the Portage branch is at 222 E. Wisconsin St.

Until the merger occurs over the summer and everything is converted, customers in Beaver Dam and Wisconsin will continue to use their accounts and services under the Bank Mutual Brand.

However, customers can now use ATMs for both Bank Mutual and Associated Bank without a fee.

Associated purchased Bank Mutual for $482 million, further solidifying its position as the largest bank in Wisconsin.

28 Bank Mutual branches and eight Associated branches will close across the state as part of the merger.
