Berger steps down as Baraboo coach

The Baraboo prep boys basketball team is in need of a new head coach after Darrin Berger stepped down this week, athletic director Jim Langkamp confirmed Tuesday.

Baraboo compiled a 24-69 record during Berger’s four years at the helm, including 4-48 in Badger North Conference play.

Berger, a Portage native, replaced Brian Bauer in 2015 and went 9-15 in his first year, followed by a 10-13 record in 2016-17.

The Thunderbirds were winless in 28 conference games the last two years, as they went 4-19 overall in 2017-18 before going 1-22 in 2018-19.
