Christie Bender, the Juneau County Register of Deeds, would like to announce that statewide issuance of vital records becomes effective Jan. 3, 2017. Statewide issuance of vital records allows Register of Deeds offices to issue records of birth, death, marriage and divorce from all Wisconsin counties, if the records are enabled in the Statewide Vital Records Information System.

Bender adds that not all vital records will be eligible for statewide issuance. For those that are eligible not all may be in the system and available for issuance as of Jan. 3. The State Vital Records Office is working with the Register of Deeds to develop a process for loading specific vital records on demand until all historic records are converted.

Bender advises individuals contact their local Register of Deeds to receive more information about statewide issuance. She says births beginning Oct. 1, 1907 to the present, death records from Sept. 1, 2013 to the present, marriages starting June 21, 2015 to the present and divorce records from Jan. 1, 2016 to the present with a few exceptions will be available for issuance either the same day or the next day.

Bender explains that statewide issuance will help provide an easier and more efficient method for serving customers. Records previously were only available at the county of occurrence or the county of residence.
