A Wisconsin Dells man has been charged with one count of attempted sexual exploitation of a child, along with a separate count of exposing a child to harmful material after sending nude photos to a minor.
According to a criminal complaint, Kenneth M. Olson, 26, sent naked photos to a 15-year-old New Lisbon girl on Feb. 2. Officer Kyle Walker with the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office received the complaint from the victim’s father and, upon interviewing the girl, found out that Olson “friended” her on Facebook to make initial contact. She told Olson she was 15, however, Olson allegedly told her to send him private Facebook messages with naked photos and videos, but she declined.
In the interview with Walker, the victim said Olson sent two naked photos of his “privates” through Snapchat, a social media smart phone application. Through Snapchat, photos are deleted after they are viewed.
The victim showed Walker the Facebook messages Olson sent, which also made references to him wanting to have sex with the victim. In the Facebook messages, Olson referenced the Snapchat photo he had sent to her, which provided more material for investigators to work with to charge Olson.
Olson is scheduled for an initial appearance at the Juneau County Justice Center on May 18.
