A Racine man is charged with choking a woman during a stay in Juneau County.
Matthew R. Langdon, 20, faces charges of strangulation and suffocation and misdemeanor battery – domestic abuse. The strangulation charge has a penalty of up to six years in prison, while the battery charge has a penalty of up to nine months in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, on Sept. 5, a woman contacted police to say she had been assaulted at the Eagle’s Nest in Cutler.

She said Langdon had been drinking and fishing for most of the day and was becoming angry because his fishing line continued to get caught in trees. She said she left him alone because he was becoming angry.
Later in the day, Langdon returned to where the two were staying and pushed the woman down in her chair. The woman said he then choked for about 10 seconds.
Police noticed bruising on the right side of the woman’s neck.
Langdon is due in court at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 9 for his initial appearance at the Juneau County Justice Center in Mauston.
