Johnnie Visgar, 75, of Sparta, formerly of Necedah died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at home in Sparta.

He was born Oct. 16, 1938, in Juneau County.

Johnnie was united in marriage to Wava G. Bailey Dec. 24, 1956. She preceded him in death Oct. 4, 2012. Together they resided in the Walworth Area until moving to Necedah. Johnnie worked for Best Power in Necedah for 15 years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going up North to go camping at the Tanglewood family cabin. He was a member of Whitetails Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. He had very kind and outgoing personality, considered everyone a friend and was always willing to help someone. He was a proud father and grandfather, and always enjoyed taking his grandchildren for rides through the woods in the golf cart, having squirt-gun fights and teasing them a little.

He is survived by sons, Michael Brown of Burlington, Donnie (Peggy) Brown of Union Grove and David (Jan) Brown of Reeseville; daughters, Cheryl Baker of Sparta, Wava (Jeff) Lazzeroni of Darien, Peggy (William) Brockwell of Necedah and Tammy Bolcerek of Sparta; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Cavin of Harvard, Ill., Brenda Kratzer of LaFarge and Linda (Jack) Milner of LaFarge; brothers, Eddie Sorenson of Arkansas and Denny (Pam) Sorenson of Tomah; sisters-in-law, Mildred Miller of Fort Worth, Texas and Donna Bailey and Shirley Brus, both of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Terry Bopp of Illinois; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

In addition to his wife; he was preceded in death by son, Johnnie Lavalle; parents, Aletha and Vilas Sorenson; sister, Janice Bopp; mother-in-law, Letha Bailey; and sister-in-law, Judy Hatfield.

A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, March 5, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Pastor Gary Sisk will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, town of Cutler, with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
