Sam Roth and his namesake park

Sam Roth, 92, now has a park in Shorewood Hills named after him.

Roth, who resides at Attic Angels Apartment in Middleton, was born and raised in Mauston. He graduated from Mauston High School in 1938. Sam spent 15 years in the United States Army. He served in the European Campaign during World War II and received six Bronze Battle Stars and Bronze Stars during the war.

Sam married Romelle Ormson from New Lisbon. She passed away four years ago. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Chemical Engineering.

Sam served as Village Administrator, Village Engineer, Assessor, Building Inspector and Village Clerk for more than 30 years. The Village of Shorewood Hills named the park after Sam for his many years of dedicated service.

Sam belongs to the Mauston American Legion Post #81. His sister, Barbara Hill, lives in Waukesha and brother, Charles Roth, lives in Necedah.
