Royall Panthers 53, Ithaca Bulldogs 40
Royall (8-3) rattled off its third consecutive win with a 13-point victory over the Bulldogs (4-7) Monday, Jan. 7 at Ithaca High School in Richland Center.
Sophomore forward Jessica Brueggeman scored 12 points while sophomore guards Cheyenne Harris and Madeline Wainwright chipped in nine points apiece for the Panthers. Ithaca senior Anna Durst finished with a game-high 16 points.
Necedah Cardinals 45, Cashton Eagles 42 2OT
The Cardinals (9-1 overall, 5-0 Scenic Bluffs) remained undefeated in conference play be beating Cashton (7-3, 3-2) Friday, Jan. 4 in Necedah. To do so, they had to rally back from a nine-point halftime deficit and survive two overtimes.
Necedah junior guards Danielle Becker and Kyra Saylor scored 10 and nine points, respectively. Junior guard Hailey Huntzicker finished the night with nine points for the Eagles.
Wonewoc-Center Wolves 45, New Lisbon Rockets 41
Wonewoc-Center (4-7 overall, 1-4 Scenic Bluffs) snapped a 48-game conference losing streak dating back to 2015 with a narrow four-point victory over the Rockets Friday, Jan. 4 in New Lisbon. The Wolves’ previous win in Scenic Bluffs Conference play came in a 46-42 win over Royall Feb. 12, 2015.
Freshman guard Shelby Justman scored a team-high 13 points, junior forward Riley Nielson finished with eight points and 14 rebounds and both sophomore guard Faith Kruger and sophomore forward Kailey Ertl hauled in 10 rebounds for Wonewoc-Center. Junior guard Mya Delgado scored a game-high 14 points and freshman point guard Libby Rogers chipped in 12 points for the Rockets.
Royall Panthers 62, Brookwood Falcons 43
The Panthers improved to 3-2 in conference play with a 19-point win over Brookwood (3-7 overall, 1-4 Scenic Bluffs) Friday, Jan. 4 in Ontario.
Royall sophomore forward Jessica Brueggeman scored a game-high 18 points, sophomore guard Tenley Wopat added 14 points and sophomore guard Emma Gruen finished with four points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Junior Shelly Powell and junior guard Noemi Nicolas contributed 10 points apiece for the Falcons.
Westfield Pioneers 48, Mauston Golden Eagles 21
A loss to the Pioneers (5-6 overall, 2-1 South Central) sent the Golden Eagles’ losing streak to three to kick off the 2019 portion of their schedule Friday, Jan. 4 in Mauston.
Westfield’s Abby Wallace scored a game-high 11 points while Lexi Brakebush and Tayha Reetz added 10 points apiece. Junior center Matti Wafle finished with seven points and eight rebounds for Mauston (1-9, 1-2).
Necedah Cardinals 58, Pittsville Panthers 22
Necedah dominated the first half on its way to a 41-9 halftime lead and a 36-point victory over the Panthers (2-8) Friday, Dec. 28 in Pittsville.
Senior guard Braedynn Jones scored a game-high 18 points and junior guard Danielle Becker added 16 points as well for the Cardinals. Pittsville senior forward Anastasia Klein finished with seven points.
Fennimore Golden Eagles 52, Wonewoc-Center Wolves 36
The Wolves’ losing streak extended to four to close out 2018 thanks to a non-conference loss to the Golden Eagles (3-8) Thursday, Dec. 27 in Wonewoc.
Wonewoc-Center sophomore forward Kailey Ertl finished with nine points and 11 rebounds, junior forward Riley Nielson recorded eight points and 12 rebounds and sophomore guard Lindsay Peters scored seven points.
