A registered sex offender living in Pardeeville faces the possibility of life in prison after investigators said he fondled two girls.
Charles L. Siegler Jr., 31, is being held in Columbia County Jail on $50,000 cash bail after appearing Wednesday in Columbia County Circuit Court.
Siegler is charged with felony counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 and repeated first-degree sexual assault of the same child.
Siegler, charged as a persistent repeater due to a 2004 conviction of child enticement, could face life in prison if convicted.
Investigators with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office say Siegler fondled a 12-year-old girl and forced a 10-year-old girl to fondle him.
Siegler was on community supervision by the Department of Corrections and a registered sex offender at the times of the assaults, according to court records. He was convicted in 2004 in Sauk County of felony child enticement and was sentenced to serve six years in prison and 10 years of community supervision on the charge. He was ordered to register as a sex offender until 2034, according to Wisconsin Department of Corrections information.
Siegler was also sentenced in 2004 to serve an additional year in prison followed by two years of community supervision on a felony burglary charge.
The case is scheduled for a pretrial conference Jan. 5 and a court hearing Jan. 28.
