John Frederick Flatow, 72, of Normangee, Texas, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, after battling with pulmonary fibrosis, and has finally found peace.
Though he was born in Baraboo, and raised his family in Reedsburg, Texas is where he found his home.
While he visited his kids and grandkids several times a year until his health would no longer allow it, John had found a new love in Texas, both with Virginia and on the ranch. With the near endless work that horses and cattle entail and the no-nonsense southern sass and class of a retired minister, John’s heart had found its home. His children smile fondly remembering the “hi sweetie” that he continually greeted Virginia with.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Vilas and Charlotte (Libby) Flatow; and a brother-in-law, Norman Solum; along with his grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles; cousins and friends.
He is survived by his children, Jessica (Brandon) Yanke and Michael (Lisa) Flatow; grandchildren, Blakelee Wilcox, Hunter Wilcox, Kailey Wilcox and Malinah Flatow; and his sister, Mary Carol (Flatow) Solum. John is also survived by his life partner and love, Virginia Livergood.
John’s family invites everyone who knew him to celebrate his life from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday July 13, 2019, in the pavilion at Nishan Park in Reedsburg.
