TOWN OF ERIN - William "Bill" Meier, 84, of the Town of Erin passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his home.
He was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Merrill, Wis., to Henry and Alma (Krueger)Meier. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Beine on June 4, 1949, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.
Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Hartford V.F.W. Post 8834, and the Courtney, Carr, Milner American Legion Post 19 and was also a member of the Hartford Senior Friends. Bill was a past member of the Erin School Board. He was a dedicated, motivated and hard working dairy farmer and he loved the farm life.
He is survived by his three children, Linda (Richard) Feutz of Rubicon, Debra (Tim) Christopherson of Ashippun, and Robert (Kim) Meier of Erin; eight grandchildren, Mary Ann, and Anne Feutz, Katie (Jay) Nadboralski, Jennifer (Austin) Becker, Christina (Tiernan) Byerly, Daniel (Melissa) Meier, and Amanda and Zachary Christopherson; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Carter, Lincoln, Brandon, Lauren and Lily; his brothers and sister, Dave, Kenny (Faye), Ralph (Joan) and Leroy (Nancy) Meier and Marilyn (Bill) Popp; his sisters-in-law, Willa Meier, Dorothy Beine; his brother-in-law Tom (Mary) Beine; and special friend Viola Grady. Bill is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gertrude, great grandson Tristan, brothers Robert and John, and sister Eleanore Pierce.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in the Town of Erin with Father David LaPlante officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Thompson.
