"In a state that deals with both the legacy of and present day racism, along with economic disparities in both our rural and urban areas, we must take all steps necessary to ensure everyone is counted," Wenona Wolf, legislative director for Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, said at the Madison Mayor's news conference on the 2020 census. Wolf highlighted the plans of the Wisconsin Complete Count Committee and Lt. Gov. Barnes to prepare Wisconsinites for the census. "Counts from this census will be used to reapportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and it's expected that southern and western states will gain seats and political power at the expense of north, east, and midwest states like Wisconsin."
