The Portage Middle School wrestling team faced some stiff competition Tuesday night, facing off with Baraboo and Lodi in a dual meet at Jack Young Middle School in Baraboo.

The Warriors were able to weather the storm, earning a 28-19 record, including 13 pin fall victories as a team, against the Thunderbirds and Blue Devils. The trio of Christian Erickson, Emerson Pease and Chase Beckett led the way for the Warriors. All three boys went 2-0 with Erickson picking up a pair of pins and Pease and Beckett recording one each.

Along with the top trio, Riley Hibner, Mitchell Butson, Ethan Bleich and Oz Gayton each went 2-0. Of the 26 wrestlers competing for the Warriors, 21 earned victories. Portage will look to continue its strong start to the season this weekend when they travel to Baraboo again. The Warriors will be competing in the 12-team Spencer Middle School duals, starting at 9 a.m., a meet they finished sixth at last year.
