A horse and an Amish man suffered minor injuries after the buggy he was driving was rear-ended Wednesday afternoon on Highway 22 in Columbia County.

Authorities were called at 2:12 p.m. to the scene of the crash, near Turner Road in the town of Marcellon.

Sheriff Dennis Richards said a vehicle collided with the rear of the buggy, which was damaged in the incident.

The vehicle driver, Mel Galbraith, 55, of rural Westfield, was not injured and was cited with inattentive driving, Richards said.

“The driver did the right thing” and waited for law enforcement to arrive after the collision, Richards said.
