A 27-year-old Middleton man accused of walking into a bar and threatening to kill everyone with a shotgun was charged with three counts of first-dregree reckless endangerment Monday.
During his initial appearance in Sauk County Circuit Court, Scott N. Cozine was placed on a $50,000 bond.
Cozine was arrested after he allegedly brought a .12-gauge shotgun into a Spring Green bar and threatened to kill everyone inside. A bartender said an intoxicated Cozine was attempting to pick fights with other patrons and became upset when he was refused service.
Cozine left and returned to the Shed Tavern shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday and brandished the shotgun. Customers subdued him and grabbed the shotgun, Spring Green police reported. When they searched Cozine, they found numerous shotgun shells on him, according to the criminal complaint.
One of the bar patrons told a Spring Green police officer that Cozine was "moving the shotgun around and pointing it at different people in the room" when the man and another patron grabbed the gun away from Cozine. The two men wrestled Cozine to the floor and held him there until police arrived.
Along with the $50,000 bond came special conditions of absolute sobriety. Cozine is also not to possess any firearms.
He will be back in Sauk County Court for a pre-trial conference
