Information is taken from the records of the Portage Police Department and does not represent a comprehensive list of police activity. Each individual named in this report is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Between 8:01 a.m. on June 7 and 5:28 a.m. on June 11, police responded to 171 calls, including the following:

Domestic: Police at 7:24 p.m. on June 7 arrested a 30-year-old Portage woman on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct and on a probation hold.

Domestic: Police at 11:07 p.m. on June 7 arrested a 47-year-old Portage woman on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

Suspicious activity: Police at 6:57 a.m. on June 8 arrested Edgar Thorpe, 46, of Portage on suspicion of theft and attempted entry into locked vehicles.

Trespassing: Police at 3:50 p.m. on June 8 responded to a trespassing complaint on the 200 block of East Edgewater Street and arrested Hannah Phenegar, 25, of Portage on suspicion of bail jumping, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Fire: Police at 8:18 p.m. on June 8 responded to a call of someone setting “an old love note” on fire and throwing it into a garbage can. Police charged a 16-year-old boy with negligent use of burning material and released him to his father.

Disorderly conduct: Police at 9:18 p.m. on June 9 responded to a report of a man slapping another man at the Market Basket convenience store at 403 DeWitt St. in downtown Portage. Police cited Robert Harris, 29, of Portage on suspicion of battery and disorderly conduct.

Domestic: Police at 4:53 a.m. on June 10 responded to a call at an apartment building on Red Fox Run in Portage. Police arrested a 29-year-old Portage man on suspicion of bail jumping. Police were also attempting to locate a 32-year-old Portage woman on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct.
