A woman was killed in a head-on collision in the town of Lodi, authorities said Sunday night.

Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brandner said at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway J and Richards Road in the town of Lodi.

He said a preliminary investigation revealed a red 2017 Ford Escape was traveling north on Highway J when it crossed the center line and collided with a blue 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

A man who was driving the Ford Escape was airlifted to UW Hospital by a Med Flight helicopter. A woman who was a passenger in his vehicle was also transported to UW Hospital  by EMS.

A woman who was driving the Chevy Trailblazer was pronounced dead on scene.

The names of everyone involved in the crash are being withheld pending notification of family members. 

Brandner said all occupants from each vehicle were wearing seat belts. 

The roadway remains closed as an investigation continues, Brandner said.

The Lodi Police Department, Lodi Fire Department, Lodi EMS, UW Med Flight, Poynette EMS, Divine Savior EMS, Columbia County Highway Department, Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office, Lodi Shell Towing and Browns Towing assisted the Columbia County Sheriff's Office on scene.
