I am a Vietnam veteran who served from 1969-70, as a combat hospital corpsman with Echo Co. 2nd Battalion 7th Marines with another Portage veteran, Ronald Woodard, in Vietnam. I was medevaced back to Great Lakes, Illinois, and now have 100 percent disability.

I have gone through several Columbia County Veterans Service Officers, including B.J. Amend, Bill Crowley, Donna Chrzas, Richard Hasse and Rebekka Cary.

Cary has done more to help me and many other veterans than any of the others. I have heard many of my fellow veterans state how much she knows and has helped them.

I think it would be a shame and a great loss to all veterans of Columbia County to lose her services, her dedication to the job and her willingness to help all who come to her office.

We think so much of her help and abilities that we have requested to take her with us on our Badger Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in the spring of 2020 as a guardian. It is in thanks for all she has done for us.

We hope Cary becomes our new Columbia County Veterans Service Officer, as no one is more deserving.
