Portage needs a low-income dental clinic like the one St. Vincent de Paul has in Prairie du Sac. The old medical clinic on West Pleasant Street would be an ideal location for a low-income dental clinic for Portage.

I get all my dental care at Prairie du Sac discounted 70 percent. Please write letters to Gov. Tony Evers, Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Dave Considine and Sen. Jon Erpenbach if you are supportive of my idea.

The property on West Pleasant Street has been idle since 2003 and is up for sale by Divine Savior. The cost will be more than $100,000 and a license would be required to open a low-income dental clinic. There would be quite a bit of red tape involved also. I think funding may be available from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.

Also, the free medical clinic at Wilz Drugs needs a computer to store data. The card system they have now is a mess.
