I am deeply concerned about possible moves to allow drilling for oil off of the Florida coastline. Like many Wisconsinites, my husband and I love vacationing in Florida and seeing the beautiful oceans.
The "Sunshine State" provides respite for many northern Midwesterners and has a thriving tourist economy that has both national and international importance. Why would we risk one of its key assets for a fuel source that is on its way out? Why not instead incentivize having the "Sunshine State" harness solar energy to supply not just its own needs but export to other states as well? Surely that makes more sense in the mid- and long term.
