April 20 – Learn to Fish program from 9 to 11 a.m. at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. If you are 16 or older, you will need a fishing license. All equipment and bait will be provided. Meet at the north shore boat launch. For information call 608-356-8301.

April 20 – Frog Safari from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Bring a flashlight and meet at the Steinke Basin parking lot. For information call 608-356-8301.

April 21 – Spring Letterboxing Adventure program at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Drop in between 12:30 and 3 p.m. at the nature center to pick up your clues to begin the adventure. For information call 608-356-8301.

April 22 – Celebrate Earth Day at the MacKenzie Center in Poynette by helping remove invasive species, picking up litter and participating in other activities. Individuals, businesses, school groups, and other organizations are all welcome to attend. April 27 – Get Your Bike Ready for Spring program at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Bring your bike and join the bike specialists from Wildside Adventure Sports as they cover basic bike maintenance, how to fix a flat, how to keep your breaks and gears lubed, and much more. Meet at the Nature Center’s Parking Lot between 9 a.m. and noon. For information call 608-356-8301.

April 27 – Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering at Buckhorn State Park near Necedah from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are being sought to clear sticks and leaves from campsites and day use areas, clean accessible cabin, split and stack firewood, and pick up litter. Volunteers should wear work shoes/boots, long pants, gloves and bring shovels and rakes if they have them. Meet at the park office for assignments. Lunch will be provided by the friends group. April 27 – Celebrate Earth Day at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo by volunteering to help with trails from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All tools will be provided. Bring a pair of work gloves and some water. Meet at the Nature Center. For information call 608-356-8301.

May 4 – General inland waters game fish opener (trout, walleye, northern pike, bass in the southern zone). Check current Wisconsin Hook and Line Fishing Regulations pamphlet for exceptions regarding specific game species and waters. … Catch and release only bass season opens through June 15 in the northern zone. … Muskellunge season in waters south of State Highway 10 opens. … Frog season opens.
