June 1-2 – Free Fishing Weekend. No license or stamps required to fish inland waters or outlying Wisconsin waters of the Great Lakes and Mississippi and St. Croix rivers. All bag and size limits and other regulations apply. … State Parks Open House and free admission to all state parks, forests and trails. … Free ATV trails weekend. ATV/UTV owners can ride free; you do not need to have your machine registered in Wisconsin. Nonresident ATV/UTV owners do not need to have a trail pass on these days. All other rules apply — safety education certification is required for all UTV and ATV operators who were born on or after Jan. 1, 1988. … Free trails weekend. People participating in activities that require a state trail pass (biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, inline skating) to use state-owned and managed trails do not require a trail pass this weekend.

June 1 – Learn to Fish program at Buckhorn State Park in Necedah from 10 to 11 a.m. Join staff at the kid’s fishing pond shelter across from the park entrance for minor races, backyard bass and fishing in the pond. For information call 608-565-2789.

June 1 – Exploration Station: Fur, Scat, Tracks program at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Program happens outside the park’s Nature Center from 10 a.m. to noon. For information call 608-356-8301.

June 1 – Animal Feeding Day at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Watch the animals at the park’s Nature Center have lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. For information call 608-356-8301.

June 1 – Meet the Bee Keepers program at Devil’s Lake State Park. Check out the park’s bee hive. Program happens outside the park’s Nature Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For information call 608-356-8301.

June 1 – Critter Corner: Bats program at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Drop in at the critter corner from 1 to 3 p.m. to learn more about bats. Program takes place on the North Shore Beach by the Chateau. For information call 608-356-8301.

June 1 – Guided kayak tour of Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo. Tour runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and begins near the north shore concessions. Registration is required as space is limited. Kayak available for rental if needed for $25 for a single, or $45 for a double. To register or to reserve a kayak call 608-356-8301 ext. 140.

June 15 – Northern zone smallmouth bass season goes from catch-and-release to daily bag limits. Check current regulations for bag and size limits.

June 16 – Yellow perch season opens on Lake Michigan with a bag limit of five.

June 16 – Roxbury Valley Trap Club’s 22nd Annual Kippley Shoot and Chicken BBQ. The merchandise trap shoot begins at 9 a.m. The chicken BBQ begins at 11:30 a.m. The club is located midway between Highway 12 and Roxbury on Highway Y.

June 21-23 – Baraboo River Chapter of Kids and Mentors Outdoors Campout at Castle Rock County Park. Anyone interested should contact Greg Wagner at 608-477-0641.
