Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service has been recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Health Service’s Coverdell Stroke Program for becoming a Coverdell Emergency Medical Services Partner in effective stroke care. EMS plays a key role in these efforts by providing appropriate assessments and treatments that allow quicker care upon arrival at the hospital. EMS Services and hospitals that have coordinated their practices have shown an improvement in the care of stroke patients.
Reedsburg Ambulance Service will focus on delivering stroke community education, reviewing internal protocols and practices, and working with local hospitals and are currently working with Reedsburg Area Medical Center’s Stroke Committee to review and improve pre-hospital stroke care to patients.
