The Beavers didn't play up to their potential on Jan. 4 when they hosted Waunakee and fell 64-47 in a Badger North game.
Reedsburg hung with the Warriors (9-5, 5-2) throughout a back-and-forth first half, trailing 29-27 at halftime. But the second half was a different animal, as the Beavers got in a rut on both sides of the floor. It was Reedsburg's first conference loss of the season.
"We struggled to put points on the board down the stretch and our defense didn't get the stops you need to win," Simon said. "I thought Waunakee did a great job attacking the basket."
The Beavers were playing without Mahra Wieman, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in late December. Wieman was averaging 14.9 points per game before the injury.
"Anytime you lose that kind of production during the season, it will take some time for our offense to adjust without her. Hopefully, we can improve each game and be a better team when Mahra does return," Simon said.
Cherney led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Korklewski had 12 points.
Reedsburg 52, River Valley 32
The Beavers got back to their winning ways on Jan. 8 with a 52-32 non-conference win over River Valley at home.
Reedsburg held the Blackhawks (5-9, 0-4 SWC) to 11 points in the first half which gave it the edge. Douglas finished the night with a game-high 17 points, followed by Cherney (14).
The Beavers will travel to Monroe on Jan. 12.
