The Reedsburg Bar Buddies will host its 3rd annual pub crawl March 16 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day to promote a safe ride home.

Seven bars will be featured for the safe ride programs event, with the Reedsburg Country Club and Brewster’s Lane joining the crawl this year. Bar Buddies Program Coordinator Craig Braunschweig said the event helps promote the Bar Buddies program, the local bars and is another way for locals to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

“It’s a good time,” he said. “You get a group of friends, you go out, you have a good time.”

Braunschweig said event also serves as a fundraiser to help with the programs operational expenses.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 until 2 p.m. March 16 at the participating bars: the Vault, Corner Pub, Thirsty Beaver, Just One Bar and Grill, Badger Bar, Brewster’s Lanes and the Reedsburg Country Club. Any leftover tickets will be sold at the door for $20 at the Reedsburg Country Club from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. March 16. Those who have registered can pick up their wrist band and cup at the country club. The crawl lasts until 9 p.m. and a party at Just One Bar and Grill will lasts until 10:30 p.m., Braunschweig said.

Those on the crawl will receive seven tickets at the door for a chance to enter a $300 raffle, eight if purchased ahead of time. Braunschweig said people will have a chance to enter different raffles throughout the night, like a $75 raffle, a 50/50 raffle and a Milwaukee Brewers package.

During the night of the pub crawl, Bar Buddies will be available for rides from 2 p.m. until 3 a.m. March 16. Braunschweig said Bar Buddies can pick up pub crawl participants at their house or other location to transport them to the country club for registration for free.

A Bar Buddies vehicle will be waiting at the country club as an option to transport participants to the bars in the downtown area for free to their next stop on the crawl for free. All three of the Bar Buddies vehicles will be out that night to provide free rides the entire night for those on the pub crawl. Those who are not on the pub crawl will be charged for a ride to bars.

Bar Buddies Fundraiser Coordinator and Driver Niki Schulenburg said the program gives an average of 300 rides a month. She said Bar Buddies is a “great program” as another way to get people home safe after drinking too much.

“When I was younger, I wish we had it then and we didn’t,” Schulenburg said. “A lot of my friends were either in accidents or had gotten pulled over at that time. It’s great to get people home safe.”

Those who still have plans for a night out and aren’t on the pub crawl can still utilize the Bar Buddies service if needed. Normal service hours are from 6 p.m. to midnight on Thursdays and 6 p.m.-3 a.m. Friday.
