Eva M. Kalin, 85, of DePere, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Angels on Arcadian in DePere.

Eva Mae was born Oct. 28, 1933, to Robert and Nettie (Overbee) Dean. Her mother died when Eva was 18-months-old and she was raised by her foster parents, Lester and Bernice Riphenberg. In 1955, Eva was united in marriage with Jerrold Bussewitz; he died in 1972. Eva was primarily a homemaker and a mother but she also worked as a seamstress in Beaver Dam. Eva was united in marriage with Benjamin Kalin in 1973. Once the children were raised, she went to cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser. Eva loved quilting and she cherished the times spent doting on her grandchildren. She was a devout christian and was always active in the Lutheran Church wherever she lived.

Survivors include her three children, Pamela Eklund of Oshkosh, Brian Bussewitz of Milwaukee, and Natalie (Michael) Brown of Reedsburg; two step-children, Jerry Kalin of Texas, and Kim Hohmeister of Utah; five grandchildren, Joshua and Taylor Greytak, and Justin, Jeremy, and Megan Brown; four step-grandchildren, Ryan, Elissa, Ben, and Evan; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; her first and second husbands; her son, Brad Bussewitz; two sisters, Norma and Mavis; and her brother, Russell.

Visitation for Eva was held from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam. Funeral services followed at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Bryan Lagerstam officiating. Burial was at Highland Memory Gardens, N9782 Highway 151, Beaver Dam.

If desired, memorials may be made in Eva’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.
