Pat Nash's column on Christian conservatives is a vicious, judgmental piece. She makes broad generalizations and does not consider that perhaps conservatives believe that the programs she wants will not help the poor. How would it be if someone wrote as she does, but about Muslims or Jews? I'm sure she'd protest.

Jesus never commanded government redistribution of wealth, and generosity with someone else's money is no virtue. There are instead injunctions against envy. There is a parable about tenant farmers refusing to give the landowner his share of the crop and killing the landowner's son in order to seize his inheritance.

Jesus said, "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Ms. Nash, consider that.
