At its next meeting, the Reedsburg City Council should apologize to the taxpayers of Reedsburg and then resign as a group. Without public input or debate, and after a brief closed door meeting, they appointed a new city administrator with no experience, save a few months of interim, and gave him a salary of $114,000 annually, plus benefits. For reference, this same individual, with decades of experience in law enforcement, was only making $103,626 as Chief of Police.
Any explanation from our elected officials? Nothing beyond stating that they think this is a great idea and they feel really good about it.
What has happened to government in this country?
