Try 3 months for $3

Buoyed by another strong performance by junior Will Fuhrmann, Reedsburg locked down third place in the Badger North standings.

Fuhrmann shot a 77 to tie for third in the individual standings and the Beavers posted a 353 as a team to take third at the Badger North conference meet Tuesday, May 14 at the House on the Rock Resort Golf Course in Spring Green.

Waunakee posted a winning score of 307 to finish 12 shots clear of second-place Mount Horeb and secure the 2019 Badger North championship.

Reedsburg entered the day in a strong position to finish third in the standings and capitalized thanks in no small part to Fuhrmann’s sub-80 round.

Mount Horeb’s Kasen Fager shot a 73 Tuesday to place first overall. Waunakee’s Ryan Johnson followed in second with a 75. Fuhrmann’s 77 was tied with Waunakee’s Sean Murphy and Jacob Werlein for third.

Waunakee’s Joe Guerrera and Baraboo’s Dane Hinz each shot a 78 to tie for sixth. Mount Horeb’s Will Kealy came in eighth at 80. Teammates Tommy Winkler and Michael Rumler tied for 10th at 83.

Elsewhere for the Beavers, Kip Cunningham followed behind Fuhrmann with an 85. Brett Crary and Ryan Schneider each carded an 89 and Carson Beyer was right behind them with a 90. All-conference teams are determined by tallying up point accrued during the conference mini meets and then the conference meet itself.

Kulka, Fager, Murphy, Hinz and Johnson made up this year’s All-Badger North Conference first team. Joining Fuhrmann on the second team were Werlein, Winkler, Guerrera and Rumler.

With the conference season now in the books, Reedsburg’s attention now turns to the postseason. The Beavers will compete at the Division 1 Tomah regional at Hiawatha Golf Club Tuesday, May 21 at 9 a.m. in Tomah.
