Presentation: 6-7 p.m., National Alliance on Mental Illness Sauk County, West Square Building, Room B-30, 510 Broadway, Baraboo. People affected by mental illness often experience a sense of grief brought on by personality change, co-opted future or other associated losses. Deanna Houck will discuss grief and how it can be applied to a loss, no matter what kind it is. She will share her experiences with grief, its stages, and helpful coping skills. Friday, Dec. 7

Open house: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Bank of Prairie du Sac, 555 Park Ave., Prairie du Sac and 865 Phillips Boulevard, Sauk City. Cookies and punch at both locations. The Sauk Prairie Hospital Gift Shop gift sale and Optimist Club Nut & Candy sale will be at the Prairie du Sac location all day. Concert: 7 p.m., River Arts on Water Gallery, 590 Water St., Prairie du Sac. Harpist Karen Beth Atz will play an evening of seasonal music. There is no advance ticket sale, a $10 suggested donation at the door. All proceeds benefit River Arts Inc. programs.

Saturday, Dec. 8

Trail improvement: 9 a.m., Ice Age Trail Alliance Lodi Valley Chapter, Merrimac Ferry, Merrimac. Meet at S. Wayside Park. Holiday shop: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Holiday Shop, 836 Phillips Boulevard, Sauk City. Fourth annual holiday shop benefiting the Sauk Prairie Area Food Pantry. Featuring more than 60 vendors and crafters, with a holiday cookie sale for Friends of Sauk Prairie Park and Rec.

Wagon rides: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Taliesin Preservation, Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center, 5607 Highway C, Spring Green. One-hour horse-drawn wagon rides through the Taliesin estate and warm seasonal beverages by the fireside in the fully restored historic Tan-y-Deri. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 4-9, and free for younger if sitting on an adults lap. Space is limited, reserve online at taliesinpreservation.org.

Concert: 7:30 p.m., Park Hall, 307 Polk St., Sauk City. Performing holiday and seasonal music at the Kelters and More Concert will be Walter, bassoon; Bridget Mullin, piano; Marita Kelter, director and vocalist; Amber Kelter, flute; and Bob Kelter, percussion. Christmas service: 10:30 a.m., Little Brown Church, 29864 Brown Church Drive, Lone Rock. The annual Christmas service at the Little Brown Church. Pastor Craig Peach from the Lone Rock Community Congregational Church will deliver the message.  Barb Persinger will be the accompanist and Brass in the Pines will provide holiday music. Social hour with refreshments will follow the service.  People of all faiths are welcome.

Wednesday, Dec. 12

Fundraiser: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Paul's Chocolates of Sauk City, Sauk Prairie Hospital, 260 26th St., Prairie du Sac. Chocolatier Paul Beloungy will be on hand with boxes and samples of his 18 flavors of chocolates, truffles and caramels, including December’s flavors of the month, egg nog and peppermint. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Friends of Sauk Prairie Healthcare.

Community meal: 5-7 p.m., 6:8, 821 Industry Road, Sauk City. Free event, open to the public. Community meal sponsored by 6:8, which coincides with the food pantry's distribution on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Share in fellowship before, during, and after the pantry's distribution. Sample food prepared with produce from 6:8's community garden when in season.
