A newspaper’s front page should never include pictures of dead animals. Period. September 27 Sauk Prairie Eagle did just that, with the image of a dead coyote. Opinions are strong and polarized when it comes to coyotes, hunting, hunting with tracking dogs, and trapping. This diversity is not the issue here. The issue is respect for your readers. While TV programs will warn viewers that an upcoming airing may be offensive, or not for younger viewers, etc., I get it that most newspapers don’t extend a “warning” courtesy. And at least the photos of dead bear, deer, etc. are usually on inside pages. September 27 front page is barbaric and upsetting. You went too far, probably disgusting and alienating many. Please apologize to your readers. We expect and deserve better.
