We wrapped up a fun and educational safety month on May 30 for Storytime at the Ruth Culver Community Library.

The first week we covered safety outdoors on May 3 which included a Birthday party for Smokey Bear who is 75 years old this year. Smokey was accompanied by Amy Luebke and Mark Hays plus cupcakes and giveaways. The library would like to thank Amy and the Wisconsin DNR for providing this fun event.

The second week we talked about police safety and had a special visit from Lt. Travis Hilliard and McGruff, Mandy Gibson on May 7. Hilliard explained what all the items on his belt were for and emphasized how the police help the Fire and EMS departments as well as all of us.

The third week we focused on emergencies and learned about ambulances and rescues and had a field trip to the EMS facility on May 16. All EMT’s were on hand to give tours and rides on stretchers and share cupcakes and juice. The library would like to thank all our Community Special Services for what they do for the SP area and for sharing with the children through the library.
